Chicago Magazine – Chicago Visitor Map
OBJECTIVE
Chicago Magazine (Chicago, Illinois), the premiere local magazine for the Chicago area, required 2 street maps in which to locate a number of points of interest and amenities targeted at visitors to the City of Chicago.
SOLUTION
Randal Birkey of BIRKEY.COM created a detailed street map from Lake Michigan to Damen Ave. and from Diversey Street to 26th Street in Adobe Illustrator. A color palette was developed to compliment the colors being used in the Chicago Visitor Guide magazine as well. A smaller, more detailed area was also created from Lake Michigan to Orleans and Oak Street to Congress Parkway. Both maps contained highlighted locations and labels of points of interest such as:
- Marshall Field’s
- The Merchandise Mart
- Sears Tower
- Art Institute
- Navy Pier
- Buckingham Fountain
- Millennium Park
- Oriental Theater
- Daley Center
- Thompson Center
- The Mercantile Exchange
- Chicago Board of Trade
- Goodman Theater
- Civic Opera House
- John Hancock Center
- Fourth Presbyterian Church
- The Wrigley Building
- Tribune Tower
- Carson Pirie Scott
- The Chicago Cultural Center
- The Museum of Contemporary Art
The map files were delivered via a Birkey.com FileSharing site as downloadable files.
