While traveling overseas, I often do sketches of things I see. This is a figure study ink line sketch done of a Greek goddess statue or sculpture as a part of a fountain or public building in Europe… not sure where.

I took a watercolor class in the 1980′s at the American Academy of Art in Chicago and Irving Shapiro was the instructor. I did this watercolor painting for that class. I had the honor of having it featured in his book on Watercolor.

Greek Column - Doric Style

On a trip to Greece in 1980, Randal captured many Greek columns on film. This watercolor painting of an ancient Doric style column was created from one of those many photo references, taken during a visit to ancient Corinth.
